The Caracalla Baths

Baths in the morning Baths in the blinding sun
The Baths of Caracalla are located at the southern end of the 'tourist Rome,' so I started headed there after starting at the Pyramide area. These ruins are all that is left of huge public baths where people would mix and mingle, enjoying a leisurely day wandering among the gardens or watching performances after bathing. They fell into disuse after the Goths destroyed their plumbing system, most of the ornate decorations were stripped away for private residences, and even today vocal performances are no longer allowed due to the potential stress loud singing is thought to have on the walls!! After walking all the way around the outside and foregoing paying 8 euros to go inside, I wandered up to the site of the Circus Maximus.
