Grandma Wagner (the same one from Grandma's
trip to Honduras) came to vsit us in the spring of 2004. We enjoyed
showing her around Serbia and Montenegro - taking her to Budva and Kotor
as well as on day trips around Belgrade. Our week-long Easter break was
spent exploring the big city and back roads of Hungary, where we invariably
ran into beautifully colored eggs and interesting people at every stop.

The overwhelming impression we got from
the trip was that of being transported back in time in central Europe.
We saw much more manual labor and "old school" hardware around than even
in Serbia - although the country was also much cleaner. As the language
itself was very difficult to get our tongues around, it was a relief
to find that many people spoke German as well: that became our de facto
lingua.
