The very name reeks of exotic locales, thundering herds of wild animals, and adventure around every corner. Boy, did we ever find adventure around every corner! Susan and Dave went there over the Christmas break of our year in Pakistan (1994-95). Suffice to say, we rented a truck that broke down in the middle of an elephant herd, broke a camera the second day out, were chased by a band of Masai, drove through a 5-foot high mud puddle, almost got shot by some gentlemen with BIG guns, were abondoned by our scuba boat in the Indian Ocean, and had $300 stolen and then returned (after witnessing some tribal justice at its very worst). And all this in a 2-week trip!! |
