Food, Crafts, and Entertainment

The one thing I wanted to eat in Moscow was borscht - beet soup. I knew all about caviar, smoked salmon, cabbage, potatoes, and vodka, but I wanted that one lousy little famous thing. Well, we got all of the others in one meal - our first meal of the trip, actually. It was an overpriced extravaganza that consisted mostly of the things our waiter recommended rather than what we really ordered. He wanted to charge me $10 for a picture - but I guess if I had to wear his cheesy outfit, I'd be huffy too!

What would a trip be without a bit of shopping? From matrioshka dolls to hats to Soviet pins, anything that one could want to remind them of their time in Russia can be found at the Ismailova craft market. I got a wooden egg with St. George on it for the family, the red doll above for Alea and a carved wooden chess set for Breck.

And karaoke to boot (literally!)
