Prague Castle

The castle overlooks the entire city and is visible from nearly everywhere

At night, the entire complex is lit up - a gorgeous spectacle

Walking up towards the castle, the views set against the buildings below is stunning

Walking down towards the castle, the sight is just as impressive...

and the view from the top ain't too shabby either, with the entire city laid out below

The national palace is home to fancy statues, beautiful flags, and solemn guards

Inside the St. Vitus cathedral (begun in 1344!) one finds soaring heights, (old) icons, (new) stained glass windows, and the remains of "Good King Wenceslas"
The outside of the cathedral is no less impressive - the images do it no justice (our guide suggested, quite reasonably, that we not take pictures but rather buy postcards of the building). There is a statue of St. George slaying a dragon right in the courtyard...
Surrounding the "working" palace are lots of other nooks and crannies to explore, including the Loreta - a convent with a treasury full of diamonds and precious stones - and the famed Golden Lane tucked up against the old outer walls - previously medieval houses but now little gift shops

and speaking of gift shops, let's go shopping!
