Night in a Castle

Our last night in Croatia, we stayed at a castle!  We are hard-core backpackers who have resisted the 'over-30-dollars-a-night' lodging thing, so staying at a castle was a pretty big deal.  The furniture was antique, the grounds manicured, the wine cellar expansive, and the billiard room a hit with the kids. 

 We arranged horse-back riding for the kids, which was a really exciting since they have been talking about that opportunity for almost a year. We also fed the deer that were penned in a huge woods behind the castle.  

The terrible news of the terrible quake in Kashmir and the mudslides in Guatemala reached us as we had CNN - a luxury we don't have at home in Belgrade.  We feel very fortunate to be the family we are where we are!
