Karlskirche

One of our favorite places to visit during our Christmas trip because of the playground just outside the church grounds, this eclectic mix of different styles pleased again in the fall. The church was built in the first half of the 18th century, and draws on sources as diverse as Greek temples, Trajan's column, baroque domes, and a modern reflecting pond built in the 1970s.

Circling the base of the building was a display of life size bears, painted in designs from countries all over the world. They were all decorated in motifs emphasizing peace as part of the "Buddy Bears" traveling display that has been hosted in several major cities over the past few years.
