Greece

Nafplio was our home base for 3 days while we explored the southeast part of Greece. It is an exceedingly cute town, and one that had a killer park for the kids to enjoy right in the downtown area.

Nafplio (or Nafplion as it is sometimes spelled) sits right on a bay. Out in the water is a monastary that keeps watch on everything along the waterfront. Along the promenade, fishing boats tie up and sell their catch to the resturants and anyone who wants fresh fish. We even saw one stall that had still-squiggling octopi hanging on string - pick your own calamari!

One of the picturesque aspects of the town were the Christmas-tree-lit-up palms surrounding the main square. They looked like fireworks in the night sky. The picture above was also supposed to include the lit up fortress overlooking the town, but it is a bit blurry. Sorry.
At the base of the mountain fortress sits a cafe with a waterfall. A super place to get a warm drink, the kids had a lot of fun leaping over (and in!) the little stream.
