This block-long area of ruins in between
2 bustling streets houses some of the oldest ruins in the city - from the
Republic, sometime in the 4th or 3rd century BCE. The area seemed interesting
simply because of the round temple and the resident cats. Then I realized
that right in the smack middle of these temples is where the Curia of Pompei
was located. Why is that important to know? Because that is where the Senate
met, and that is where Julius Caesar was killed on the ides of march: March
15, 44 BCE.
