    Background and acknowledgments

The turbulent history of the near east is a fascinating subject for students of all ages. As an aid to those pursuing studies in ancient history, whether at the elementary, secondary, or post-secondary level, this page provides a collection of links to specific small kingdoms and empires.

The majority were collected by students while working on ancient history Power Point presentations, others were passed on to me by colleagues, and I discovered the rest in the course of exploring the internet.

I also designed a series of maps that, while not intended to be used as an authoritative source, outline the growth and spread of certain empires in the ancient near east and Mediterranean areas.

I am always interested in comments and feedback, and welcome e-mail messages.
