Udaipur - Jain Temples

After two days of utter relaxation at Mountain Ridge, we went back into Udaipur to enjoy one last foray around the bazaars and markets.  We also toured two gorgeous Jain temples with inlaid glasswork that dazzled the eye.
 

There was a chunk of saffron wood at both temples that could be ground into a paste to make a yellow mehndi for the forehead after worship. 

Jains are pure vegetarians who believe in respect for all life forms.  They are the ones you sometimes see in magazines wearing white masks over their faces so they don’t accidentally eat a bug.  Truth be told, we never saw anything like that in Udaipur.   We saw some pretty funky turbans, though.

As the afternoon waned, we decided to have a look at the city from a new angle...
