Road Scenes


Heading out of Belgrade for the start of my Balkan Express tour, I wasn't sure where the road would lead me. My first stop was to be the Macedonian city of Ohrid, but after that I still wasn't sure. I did know that the road would lead me to some interesting adventures, and leaving Serbia even had its high notes.

As the sun slipped down behind me, I passed sleepy villages tucked in the foothills of snowy mountains just after the sight of a car burning at the side of the road.


 I stopped to appreciate the sunset at a roadside icon stand, although the prices (120 to 200 euros for a carved picture) were a little to steep for my blood. Besides, I was on a road trip and there was no time to waste!!
