The most enjoyable activity in Ohrid
is walking (up and down the hills) along the cobblestone street and the
lakefront promenade.
There is such a wealth of history
and style among the buildings to be seen that I was very glad I felt no
need to rush or be pushed along by throngs of visitors, as I'm sure is
the case in the summer months.
Almost as enjoyable as the sights
themselves were the hints as to the recent history of the city. The plethora
of old vehicles - for both the land and the sea - reminded me that this
was a region that had experienced enough in the recent past about which
to study and wonder...
