The DSM-IV Classification for Psychological Disorders

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV (DSM-IV) is the most widely used means for classifying psychological disorders. The DSM-IV uses five independent criteria, called axes, for describing individual psychological disorders. People who undergo assessment for a psychological disorder by a clinician who uses the DSM-IV are evaluated on each axis.
