Much
of the material contained on these pages consists of work derived from
other internet sources. I have them displayed here according to a good
faith interpretation of the doctrine of 'fair use'. I have attempted to
document resources' original posting locations whenever possible and make
no attempt to pass off others' work as my own. With many web sites undergoing
constant flux, I am often hard-pressed to "refind" sites and information
that change addresses. To ease the load on my students (and myself!!),
I have in some instances posted portions of other internet sites. I do
this not to infringe on copyright or to secure commercial return - indeed,
I personally pay for the hosting of these pages with no return whatsoever
from advertising or the like - but to ensure the highest quality availability
of solid educational resources for my students. If there are any concerns
whatsoever, please contact me immediately.
Fair use as described at 17 U.S.C. Section
107. "Notwithstanding the provisions of section 106 and 106A, the fair
use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies
or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes
such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple
copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement
of copyright.
In determining whether the use made of
a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered
shall include -
(1) the purpose and character of
the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for
or nonprofit educational purposes,
(2) the nature of the copyrighted
work,
(3) the amount and substantiality
of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole, and
(4) the effect of the use upon
the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work."
What follows is a partial listing of the
logos of some of the major sources. If I've used your info here and you'd
like to be listed, please contact me.
