Bojnice castle is a fairytaleish edifice
in north central Slovakia. The spires and turrets look like something out
of a Disney movie...
The site - located on a chunk of solid
rock surrounded by a moat - was completely reworked in the 1800s by a rich
owner to embody what he regarded as the perfect castle 'look.'
No expense was spared, as traditional
roofing tiles were used, enormous copper spires built, and gargoyles added.
He even had a 17th century coach restored,
perhaps to ride around the grounds as the afternoon sun illuminated the
outside walls.
