A day in the life of an EIS preschooler

Mrs. Ceci's nursery class had a beauty shop for their dramatic play center.  They learned a lot of concepts: hot/cold,  hard/soft, and empty/full to name a few.  They also did a lot of sharing, creative playing, and talking.  Mrs. Ingrid's class enjoys typical food on the day we celebrated Honduras' birthday.  We were talking about green that day, too.  Can you tell?!
One of Miss Karla's students works with blocks and learns about size, shapes and colors.  EIS preschool believes children learn the most when they play hard!! Miss Wendy's children enjoy rides in a big truck during their unit on transportation.  What a way to learn about size, speed and form!
Miss Wendy's group has a lesson in brainstorming topics for short stories.  Each child gets to write his or her own book.  We have a lot of budding authors! These children are enjoying some time in the classroom library.  Each class has a 'reading corner' with big books, tape stories, and traditional hard-bound.  EIS preschool immerses the children in the English language from the first day of school.
Miss Karla's class is making cookies in our kitchen.  Cooking is a great way to experience language.  We talk about textures, tastes and smells.  We roll, squeeze, stir and mash (all great muscle development for our pre-writing skills!). We practice our turn taking and sharing, too.
Mrs. Denise is having a circle time with her class.  This is an important time of the day because we come together as a group and talk about important things: calendar, counting, singing and discussions/activities about the theme of the week.  In this photo, the class is singing a song about colors.
In Mrs. Laura's class, the children made ladybugs out of apples and raisins during their unit on insects.  They learned lots of neat things.  Did you know a bug must have 6 legs and 2 antenna?  That's why a spider isn't really a bug! Neat!!
Mrs. Ingrid made pancakes one day when the class was busy learning about the letter Pp.  Regina dressed in pink and was pretty pleased to be pouring syrup on pancakes!
Mrs. Maritza and her helpers are busy carving a pumpkin before the Halloween parade.  Do you think is was a scary face? A happy face?  An angry face?
Mrs. Gina has great parents who help out in class.  In this photo,  a mom is helping a boy cut out zigzag spider legs for a puppet.  Mrs. Gina has a great puppet theater in her class.  The kids sing nursery rhymes and put on plays for the parents!  Neat!
