Learning Centers

Why are they good education?

What do we learn when involved with center activities?

Learning Centers are great education for a variety of reasons:

1) They offer a variety of activities that are age appropriate, child centered and challenging.

2) They compliment themes and support the curriculum

3) They engage children and encourage independent thinking and appropriate choice making skills

4) They can be organized by the teacher to offer activities for all ability levels in class

5) They promote and support emerging literacy

6) They provide experiences that are culturally relevant and meaningful for our children

7) They empower children and encourage their natural sense of discovery

8) They allow for self correction in a positive environment

9) They allow students to be 'teachers' and teachers to be 'observers' - practical assessment of mastery

10) They are fun!!
