Watermelon Party

Kinder classes had a watermelon party for their parents after their unit on growing and plant life cycles.  What a lot of fun!  They made watermelon playdoh with seeds, watermelon punch in our new blender, and super watermelon sun shades.  They also had face painting and sensory activities integrating the theme.  We applied our KWL charts and learned that watermelon feel differently on the inside than they do on the outside.  We also learned that watermelon seeds won't grow in sand (they need dirt, sun and water).  We measured seeds and made math patterns out of them, too.
